How much do you know about childrens residential homes?
About your Instructor
As a young man brought up in Walton, Liverpool, Michael had an endless passion for helping people and strengthening communities. He graduated with a degree in Politics in 2010 and went on to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work in 2017. Since then, he has worked as a qualified social worker for five years, including four years as a Looked After Children’s social worker, giving him a deep understanding of the importance of providing stable, caring homes for children and young people under Local Authority care.
Over the past 20 years, Michael has gained extensive experience working with disabled children and adults in a variety of roles — as a youth worker, manager, social worker, and advocate. For the last seven years, Michael has also served as Managing Director of YARS Day Centre in Merseyside, an empowering day service and respite centre for young disabled adults, managing and running the building and its services. Michael has completed countless courses on disability, safeguarding, risk management, and de-escalation, and is extremely passionate about developing local communities.
Through the values of our organisation and the experience of our staff and Michael’s leadership our goal is to create a dynamic, flexible, and caring home that puts the child at the centre of everything we do. We are committed to integrating children’s homes within their local communities in Liverpool, providing stability, support, and opportunities for Looked After Children to thrive.
